When I was in high school, I always had a vague idea of how to search for things and determine if a site was reputable, but I was never clear on it. I think it would benefit students as they move forward to further education or into the workforce.Stephhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03785019536376107946noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6454785292396322651.post-18634780973176357302009-11-20T12:10:54.676-08:002009-11-20T12:10:54.676-08:00"What might the future of technology bring th..."What might the future of technology bring that will be helpful in this endeavor?"<br /><br />I think technology is a fantastic tool for teachers and/or school librarian teachers, but I guess that, as was mentioned in a lecture this term, we need to remember it's just that: a tool, and not an answer in and of itself. Okay, that is an obvious point at this juncture, but maybe some educators risk getting caught in the game of getting what's "cool," or new, accumulating "stuff" rather than focusing on the fundamentals of what needs to be taught. I guess if teachers just always keep that in mind, they can work within their budgets, which is a real concern these days especially, and invest their time and efforst in tools that will be efficient, cost-wise and effective.Florencehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02767602710635464629noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6454785292396322651.post-91203462857955403702009-11-20T09:44:44.613-08:002009-11-20T09:44:44.613-08:00I have one of those web pages that you discussed, ...I have one of those web pages that you discussed, but very few of my students take advantage of it. And even though I teach science in the past I have taught my students how to access MEL and ERIC to help find sources. But with all of the budget cuts will school districts be able to keep up with technology?DJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16644166061857642219noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6454785292396322651.post-58225474592501194812009-11-18T16:05:35.918-08:002009-11-18T16:05:35.918-08:00I've seen computer classes do lessons on "...I've seen computer classes do lessons on "how to search". At first the students say things like "This is stuipid, I know how to find things." But when you exhaust the obvious Google searches, most kids are at a lose of where to go next. Going through how to find valid sources and using library resources helps them in the long run, even though they "know everything" already.Amy Alceniushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14123456265684145210noreply@blogger.com
